“HARLEM has a culture of discipline, dedication and excellence. HARLEM’s culture as a firm is unmatchable. It’s absolutely the best. Definitely, the internship was a complete masterpiece. l was adequately equipped and gained enough during the internship period. Yes. The challenge (yet in a good way) to be on top of your game before any class. I would prefer to rather refer to it as a learning process. I rate my learning experience 10 over 10. It was superb! HARLEM is a training ground, and the best place to ever intern. This is because students are drilled thoroughly, and not just assigned tasks to do like  regular internship programmmes. Thank you HARLEM. My autobiography can never be completed  without YOU.”- Kenechukwu Igwenagu

There was nothing challenging that l had to contend with, although there were times I felt really pushed and almost gave up but I won’t consider it a challenge but as a necessary part of the learning process. HARLEM is indeed a training ground and Mr.Babatunde I.G Lawal (Big Law) is a great disciplinarian. I would love to be as principled as he is someday. “The culture of HARLEM is one that is aimed at adding value and bringing out the best in individuals as much as I have observed. It also encourages and reward hardwork. Yes, in fact I must confess. I received much value more than my expectation. Sometimes it is hard to grasp what you are learning for the first time but thanks to the Principal Partner with his intelligent way of simplifying things.I rate my learning experience in HARLEM 8/10. I enjoyed the weekends of intensive lectures, not only that I garnered knowledge but was also imbibed with some core values such as; discipline, time management, hardwork, among other things. I was surprised when I was rewarded for answering a question during the class, which shows the level in which the firm encourages and rewards interns. I appreciate the entire team of HARLEM Solicitors for the value added. I greatly appreciate the Principal Partner Babatunde I.G. Lawal, Esq. for his time, efforts and the value received under his tutelage. May HARLEM continue to soar high by the special grace of God.”-Hussein Adebanwo

“Wow! I’m indeed thrilled, but I must confess a little bit exhausted. Yes! The culture is very firm and I have never experienced the discipline and commitment displayed at HARLEM anywhere else. And considering that I was enrolled for the virtual internship, it is surprising the kind of decorum, commitment and discipline that is maintained – we all know how bad the decorum at virtual meetings can get. The Principle Partner himself is a pillar of smartness and discipline; and one should expect nothing less of his interns. Yes! Incredible as it may seem. But I’m good to go…really – not only ‘bookishly’ but in terms of the commitment and hardwork required for the (legal) practice. I was only merely overwhelmed, as a mere sophomore law student. My learning experience in HARLEM is rated 9 over 10. Please, do keep up the hardwork! I think that if other firms around Nigeria offered dedicated internship in the manner HARLEM does, Nigerian Law Students will be better off. I’d apply to work at HARLEM someday”.- Godslove Nnaji

It is a place for serious-minded people and not a place for  unserious minds. Yes, I am adequately equipped and learnt a lot during my internship period. It was a very interesting and impactful session during my internship with HARLEM. On a scale of 1 to 10, my learning experience in HARLEM is 9/10. HARLEM is  the best  law firm for companies who need honest advice and proactive strategies with respect to any telecommunications  issue(s) and  also in other areas of practice. It’s also the best avenue for students who want to be ‘gurus’ and expert in area of telecommunications law.”- Sodiq Ayobami.

“The culture of HARLEM is perfect…discipline is being taught at its fullest. All young lawyers need to learn how to be disciplined with their time and apt in response when called upon, as well as disciplined in behavioural conduct and this is exactly what HARLEM Solicitors teaches. I gained more than just enough. Considering the fact that I barely knew that there was an area of law centered on Telecommunications in Nigeria, I can say of a fact that I am now abreast with what that law entails. There wasn’t anything challenging in particular during the Internship. I just had to up my game. I rate the learning experience in HARLEM 10/10… perfect. HARLEM is indeed a law firm interested in the growth of upcoming lawyers. Although the internship was virtual, it became so real to me that it felt nothing like a virtual internship, as the Principal Partner of HARLEM taught us interns with passion and with love as well as with discipline . I am grateful to HARLEM”.-Precious Aiseosa Egbe-Elabor.

“The HARLEM culture is a very good one, I must say. Excellence and hardwork is always rewarded. The firm believes in adding value to her interns and thus, expects same from the interns. And this is what makes the firm stand out. During the internship period, no stone was left unturned. I had to contend with keeping to time, though. I used to subscribe to the notion of “Africantime” until HARLEM Solicitors changed me. On a scale of 1 to 10, my learning experience in HARLEM gained 9/10. In the world of coporate law practice, HARLEM Solicitors has proven itself to be ‘sui generis’, most particularly as it relates to telecommunications law. I was made to believe that punctuality is the soul of survival, if not for anything,at least to have relevance in the highly saturated labour market. God bless HARLEM Solicitors, God bless Babatunde I.G.Lawal.(BigLaw).”-Abdulwahab Muhammed Yusuf, LL.B

I was adequately equipped and gained enough during the internship period, even beyond my expectations. I had to contend with striving hard to meet up with lectures in time. However, this was a part of the training, and it has helped me a lot. On a scale of 1 to 10, my learning experience in HARLEM gained 9/10. HARLEM is a firm where every law student or even lawyers aspiring to grow In the corporate and commercial world must and should of necessity avail themselves in other to acquire the necessary skills and proficiency needed to succeed in the legal industry. “HARLEM is a firm based on discipline and professionalism. You cannot last hours in HARLEM if you are not well cultured and, conversely, I think if you can last long in HARLEM, you can definitely last anywhere. Also, HARLEM is a place of intensive training and learning. Just ensure you bear an urge to learn, you can rest assured that you’d be finely trained. If you’re not ready for an intensive training, don’t bother ‘branching’ HARLEM! Yes, I was adequately equipped during the internship. I only wish there was time enough to intern on other aspects of law as the traditional interns at HARLEM do. I have plans to intern again at HARLEM though, the traditional internship this time around. The level of discipline required of interns was novel and hard to comply with at first. I, however, blended with the system within a short while and I enjoyed the process. On a scale of 1 to 10, my HARLEM learning experience is 10 of 10. HARLEM Solicitors is an outstanding law firm. It is a place where you would be pulled far beyond your horizon until you uncover your full potentials. At HARLEM, I experienced the peak of professionalism and dexterity. I can never thank HARLEM enough for the exposure that came with my internship.”-Damilare Ogunwole.

62.–  Adedeji Obadofin- Virtual Intern (Second Diet-2020)

Kogi State University (Anyigba)

“Though a subject of criticism by most past interns at Harlem, the culture and style which Harlem employs is second to none. HARLEM has a way of pushing you beyond your limits, absolutely out of your comfort zone and that is the more reason why most students who find it hard to cope with the “stress” decide to relax. I once told a friend-“if you can scale through till the end of HARLEM training, then you can work anywhere in the world!” I was adequately eqipped and gained a lot during the internship. The Principal Partner lectured us himself. This is something he could have delegated to one of the Associates. We were so lucky to have him. The notes, voicenotes, countless numbers of PDF’s with explanations as well as his constant check on concentration of students in his virtual classes underscores “being well equipped” as a student under him. However, I had to contend with the poor reception of network providers at times because HARLEM requires your onehundredpercent alertness. A question might be asked from you during one of the virtual classes and your inability to respond on time because of bad network is purely not an excuse. I had to contend with that. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate my HARLEM experience 8 over 10. HARLEM is a training ground for future lawyers in Nigeria. No one gets into HARLEM either as an intern or Associate and remains the same.”-Adedeji Obadofin.

“HARLEM Solicitors embodies the culture of diligence, ‘near-suicidal commitment’ (in Big Law’s exact words), time-consciousness, commercial awareness, excellence, fun and liberality.

Yes, despite the brevity of the internship period, I believe I have gained ample knowledge in areas of law like Intellectual property, immigration, telecommunication that before the internship I had little to no knowledge about. Through the virtual internship programme, my interest in these areas of law have been sparked so I can move from here to consolidate on the fundamental knowledge blocks that have been laid in these areas of law by the facilitators. I will rate my learning experience a 7 over 10 as I had to contend with giving attention to my toddler as he was usually back from school by the time classes commence. On most days however, I find a way to engage him so I can focus on the class so it was not too much ofa challenge. I want to specially commend the firm’s innovative idea of organizing internships (paid or not), the knowledge freely given in the course of the program cannot be estimated in money worth. In addition, I noticed that the virtual classes were not recorded, I don’t know if it was deliberate or not, I am of the opinion that the recording could be kept as part of the firm’s CSR (kind of) activities. Nevertheless, I want to commend the firm’s deliberate efforts at investing in young lawyers and how the firm is deiberately building an impressive digital footprint.”

The most amazing internship experiences are those that prepare students for the work they hope to do after graduating from college. “I would describe HARLEM’S culture as “result oriented and/ or performance driven”, in the sense that the firm places high value on output (resuult) rather than input. Another culture worthy of mention is the way achievements are regularly celebrated. Yes, I was adequately equipped during the period of the internship and I gained so much knowledge and experience to lead me in the long run in my career. However, I had to contend with the fact that the firm leaves no room for an yexcuse. On a scale of 1 to 10, my learning experience at HARLEM is definitely a 10/10. HARLEM is one of the few firms that are very intentional about budding lawyers. And a firm you would definitely enjoy working with/in.”
